I have two zones upstairs on one furnace. Z1 is the master bedroom and z2 is everything else upstairs. A second furnace provides heat in basement. Can I wire it such that when z1 is on, z2 is on? If z2 is on z1 does not need tobe on.
My problem is that the furnace is to large for just z1 master bedroom zone. When furnace kicks in you can hear the vents expanding, because to much air forcing through the vents blowing the vents up like a balloon. This makes loud noise through entire house. Very annoying!!!
The noises are not present when z2 kicks in.
Zone heating
Re: Zone heating
You can wire it with a relay to achieve the operation you want. Energize the coil of the relay with the common and W circuits of the zone 2 thermostat and break the w circuit of the zone 1 thermostat. The only way the zone 1 thermostat can call with this wiring configuration is if the zone 2 thermostat is calling. I can provide a wiring diagram in necessary.

Re: Zone heating
Thanks for the response Erik. Can you send me the wiring diagram? Do you have a PN for the relay? Does EWC controls sell the relays?
Thanks

Re: Zone heating
Pat,
I'm working on the wiring diagram now, can you please provide your e-mail address so I can send it to you. Also the relay we sell that you can use for this application is called an R1 Relay.
