I attended this webinar and was very impressed.
To me the most useful part was the EWC’s capacity control strategy of multi-stage equipment by specific zone thermostat selection and wiring.
Typical zoning with a single stage compressor is very likely to short cycle, either due to closed dampers causing excessive supply air temperature or by delivering too much sensible capacity to a zone causing its thermostat to satisfy too early. Short cycling reduces the equipments efficiency, and longevity.
I plan to avoid this type of short cycle by utilizing the EWC zone control system with multi-stage equipment and by designating zones whose required airflow will match one the equipments rated airflows (either low stage or high stage).
