MA-ND3 Issue

Post by moatgaj »

I have a dual zone heating system (recently serviced for winter and replaced both thermostats and the sensor). This week, zone 1 clicks on as ordered but no airflow, while zone 2 roasts. I have a feeling either the MA_ND3 (6 years old) has gone or the baffle is stuck in the closed position. the LED lights green on both zonal motors and I checked the control panel with a multimeter so each are getting instruction. Do I need to replace the motor, or do I have to disassemble the ducting to check the baffle. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated since I would hate to call for repair and find out I could have fixed it myself. Thanks.

It sounds like the motor has failed.
You will want to replace the motor itself.
The model you will want to order will be MRK.
If you have any questions as to where to but the product or how to make this change please let me know.

Patrick, Thank you for the reply and I did receive the MRK kit to replace. Looked like a no brainer but when I removed my ND3, I have a baffle control that sticks down about three inches and unless that is removed, no way to set the new one in. According to your website, the MRK should work for all ND models (including the ND3). Do I now have to replace the entire vent????? This was a 10 minute job max and now it seems much more. On the plus side, I capped the wires and opened the baffle so at least I get heat on the main level and am not roasting upstairs. Advice?

sir,

The motor you have is a direct replacement for MAND3 motor. If you have something in the way please send us a picture so we can properly advise you on how to proceed.

Hi Patrick,

Sorry the pics aren't very good but as you can see, a baffle control extends down from the vent and was what had been inserted into the ND3. I can manually rotate it to open and close the damper. I didn't want to unnessarily tear up the damper if there was a method to remove this.

Thanks for your help!
