I have an EWC-ST-2D Control connected to 2 zones. Zone 2 has two SMD/MAN actuators (I believe this is the correct model. Blue case with terminals 1-6 & X, Z) and one of these seems to be functioning erratically. At times it will be closed when the furnace is on and the other actuator is open and vice versa. Is there a way to test it to see if its functioning properly? Is it possible for the open/close to be reversed somehow on one actuator?
Thanks for any info
How to Test an SMD/MAN Actuator?
Re: How to Test an SMD/MAN Actuator?
To test an MAN motor you
- apply voltage 24VAC to terminals 1 and 4; with voltage on terminals 1 and 4 only the motor should move to the Open position.
- apply voltage 24VAC to terminals 1 and 6; with voltage on terminals 1 and 6 only the motor should move to the Closed position.
If you do not have wires on the 2 and 5 terminals that run back to the zone panel then you will need a jumper on each individual motor across the 2 and 5 terminals.
It is possible but very unlikely that the open and closed would be reversed on that motor.
Why? Do you think you think that is what is occurring?
