NCM 300 and 2 nest third gen thermostats

Hi all,

I have a question regarding hookup. I have a Goodman ac/heat pump unit with a NCM 300 controller with 2 zones, upstairs and downstairs and honeywell thermostats. After hooking up the Nest thermostats, as seen below, when I try to turn the heat on it would turn on but not blow hot air, but when I turn the AC on, it would blow hot air. Why are the black/white wires together on the controller? I am not trying to short my system, so any and all help is greatly appreciated! Attached are the pics of my wiring.
