want to add a zone

Post by vigla »

I want to add a new zone to my home. I have an NCM 300 with 2 zones in use. I want to split off the bedrooms in my ranch to a third zone. Is this something i can do myself? Also, can i control the installed aprilaire 600 humidifier from the thermostat? How do i do that?

To make a third zone you are going to need to install another thermostat, run duct to the new zone if there is no preexisting duct work to the new area and install a damper. As for installing a humidifier through the thermostat I would not recommend doing it that way. I would wire the humidifier straight to your furnace instead because if you wire it up to only one thermostat you would only get humidification when that thermostat is calling.

Thanks for the feedback. I have an NCM 300 control panel. In order to create a 3rd zone, I need to move one damper further down the supply, and then install 6 five inch dampers that supply the living room and kitchen.

Do you recommend a bypass damper? If i move the dampers.tue way i want, all zones will be balanced. Also, do i need another transformer to supply the 6 five in.dampers or can i tie into the existing 24v power supply?

How much are these slip in dampers?

I would recommend a bypass damper, we offer an barometric or an electronic bypass damper. The SID Dampers will run you $148.00 a piece list price. I would supply the six five inch dampers with a separate transformer as well.
