Multiple thermostats on same zone

Post by erniem »

Can I have multiple theremostats on the same zone to call for heat and AC. I would like to put one thermostat on one side of my house and one on the other on the same floor. Thanks

It would be impossible for you to have two thermostats on the same zone call for opposing modes of operation. The built in logic of the board would ignore the calls completely.

Thanks for the reply.
Would it work if they both where set to call for heat or AC?
What I want to do is heat/AC my finished basement by tapping into the zone going to the first floor, but I would like to have some control in the basement.

Thanks

You would not be able to tap into the first zone and be able to have complete control in the basement. You could install a damper and a thermostat in the basement, and when the room goes below or above the desired temperature the damper would open allowing air into the basement but air would only travel into the basement if one of your other zones thermostats are calling at the same.
