zone question

Post by johnaddison »

I have a EWC ST 2D on a three floor townhouse. The first level runs by itself, the second level thermostate seems to be mastered by the third floor thermostate, if the third floor is not set to heat the second floor will not heat even when the controls say heat, and visa versa. Now i have gotten a new thermostate with options RH and RC, i put the power to RC and when the third floor was switched to AC it worked fine, but when the winter came and the system needed to be changed to heat it says it has no power and will not work. (Since the third floor has been switched to heat and the cool is off - ie power is off?) I tried C but it ignores C and wants something in RH or RC. I then tried to switch it to RH but it still wont work. I know that the third floor is controlling this whole thing, how do i change it on the board so that the second floor is the control and the third floor is the slave?

sir,

The first thing you are going to need to do is make sure that the zone you want to be the the master zone, in your case zone 2 has a thermostat that has separate "o" and "b" terminals. The reason for this is the master thermostat must make to "o" in the cool mode and "b" in the heating mode. This is most likely the reason you could not switch between heat and cool. if you could just clarify for me what you mean by the first level running by its self? Do you mean the first floor is not zoned and the thermostat is bypassing the board completely?
