I have a Ruud Oil Furnace with a NCM300 Panel and 2 zones.
This was installed 5 years ago and never had an issue until lately.
Not always but often the zones stop calling for heat yet the furnace itself, fan too, does not shut down.
This has required a power-off of the whole system, on re-energizing the system seems to work correctly, but then within a couple of days it does it again.
The oil service company doesn't have a clue, I would like to know if the panel is going goofy and needs to be replaced.
Thanks,
Oil Furnace Constantly Running
Re: Oil Furnace Constantly Running
Jeff,
When the thermostat is satisfied but the furnace continues to run, what lights are lit on the NCM-300 zone panel?
This information will be key in determining what is causing this problem.

Re: Oil Furnace Constantly Running
The next time it does this I will get back to you guys.
It may be a couple of days to check, since I had to reset the system this AM.
I spoke to Bob, I think, and he told me the same thing and how to check it all.
For the record the Ver is 1.2 on the chip.
I'll get back to you.
Thank you.

Re: Oil Furnace Constantly Running
Hi Guys,
OK here is the scoop.
When the thermostats are satisfied the LEDs on the NCM300 are #1 (system) flashing and #3-5 (Zone Dampers 1-3) steady on.
#7 (fault) is not on as are no others.
With a reset of the furnace itself, the burner power switch not the circuit breaker, the system resets and then goes back to normal operation, for a while only.
Did not power off the NCM300.
During normal ops, the zone 1 LED (calling in winter) is off.
The issue is getting worse, as I have had to reset it now 4 times since last night 11pm.
Not sure if it is the fan master control relay down low or the master stack control up by the burner.
I'm leaning towards the master stack control (Honeywell box w/ reset switch).
What's your thoughts?
