Hello,
I just moved into out new house which has a zoned system with a PRD. I suspect that my bypass damper is always open as doesnt change positions when the blower is running or not regardless of the zones being open or closed. Looking at it I think the arm is missing as well. Am I correct? Would anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed?
Thanks!
PRD Bypass damper
Re: PRD Bypass damper
Yes you need the arm and weights for this Bypass to work correctly. This is the part number (PRD-Weights and Arm (for PRD & PRD-RD models) you are looking for.

Re: PRD Bypass damper
It sounds like your bypass damper may indeed be stuck open if it doesn't change positions regardless of the blower or zone conditions. The missing arm you mentioned could be part of the damper motor or linkage that controls the damper's movement. To proceed, you might:
Inspect for any visible damage or missing parts (like the actuator arm).
Consult the system's manual for part replacements.
Consider contacting an HVAC technician to replace or repair the damper and ensure the system is balanced properly.
Let me know if you'd like further guidance!
