EWC Effectiveness with Undersized Ducts

Getting ready to replace my 20 year old HVAC system and need some advice and guidance on using the EWC zoning system. First, I have a 3300 SQ FT one story home. I have a 4 ton unit that controls 2865 SQ FT and a 2 ton unit that controls three seldom used quest rooms and a connecting bath (445 SQ FT). There are two separate thermostats. An HVAC provider has recommended installing one 15 SEER 5 ton unit and one of the EWC zone units. I think this will save a lot of money. My only concern is that he wants to combine both existing duct systems for zoning purposes. Can a 5 ton unit using the EWC system work with these smaller ducts?

Yes sir ewc equipment will work for you. I would go with a Bmplus 3000

Hi Stephen. Thanks for the response. I was incorrect in describing the SEER of the equipment to be used. The contractor is proposing either a 14 SEER or 16 SEER 5 Ton. Would your recommendation to use the BM 3000 apply to both of these applications?
