ND Motorized Open/Close vs RSD Spring Open

I am in the process of installing a couple of 14X8 ND Dampers. I have always used the spring version. Is there a danger using the motorized Open/ motorized Closed version. Is there a danger that if something goes wrong with the damper, they will all be left in the closed position with the furnace running?
