I am about to install two Amana modulating gas furnace + 2-stage heat pump communicating systems in a new construction situation. Each system will be zoned and it looks like your UT-3000 is the best choice for the two zoning controls I'll need (I am happy to be told I should use one of your other boards instead). My main questions are about what thermostats to use.
1) Can I get away with one communicating thermostat per system, or do all the thermostats need to be communicating?
2) Do I need to do anything special in wiring a communicating thermostat, or will communication happen with normal wiring of the thermostat to your board?
3) I'd like to be able to use an Emerson 1F98EZ thermostat on at least one of the zones because of its ability to attach remote indoor temperature sensors. In an earlier post y'all noted you were uncertain whether that thermostat would work with the UT-3000. Do you have any more clarity about that at this point?
Thanks much!
Thermostats for UT-3000
Re: Thermostats for UT-3000
You can get away with only one communicating thermostat, and there is no special wiring that has to be done. Emerson does not list if their thermostat is compatible with the climate talk open protocol. For that information you would need to contact Emerson directly.
