Motor failure on older model damper

Post by joelfarr »

My house has a 15 year old EWC system with 3 zones and rectangular dampers. One of the dampers isn't functioning and is stuck in the open position. I can't find a model number on the damper, it is just stamped with the size (20x10) and the letters SMD (which I believe just means side mount damper). There are no LEDs on the damper or motor, just a blue plastic box that covers the motor.

I don't see an easy way to disconnect the motor from the damper. Is it possible to replace only the motor on this type of damper, or do I have to replace the whole thing? Also, how do I determine the part number that I need to order, and find a distributor to order from?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

Joel,
You have a model "SMD". The replacement motor is called an "MAN". You can see it on our accessory page http://www.ewccontrols.com/accesso1.htm. Your local EWC Controls distributor should be able to order you one. If you can't find your distributor email me at rkostbar@ewccontrols.com.
