Combining two zones

Post by Glenn14 »

I have a EWC OR-6 control panel. I wanted to combine two of my 4 zones, so I removed the thermostat wires to Zone 2 and jumped all of the M connections (M1, M2, M4, M5 and M6) across the Zones 1 and 2 in the panel. This seemed to work at first, but now I've noticed that both damper motors are running continuously (opening, closing, opening, closing...) whenever ANY thermostat is calling. In other words, the motor spindle keeps turning, regardless of whether Zone 1 thermostat is calling or even powered on.

Is this related to the jumped wires, or is something else wrong with the system? I'm not sure how to test if the relays are working properly. Anything else I can do to diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Should I have jumped the T-wires instead of the M-wires?

Actually, I changed it and jumped the 3 T-wires for the two zones instead. That seems to have fixed the issue and everything is working as it should.
