We have made a few minor changes to some products over the last few months. We have made our SAS (Supply Air Sensor) more reactive to plenum pressure changes. This allows our EBD (Electronic By-pass Dampers) to react much smoother during variable speed operation. Our EWT-3900 (Wireless Thermostat) now has a remote battery charger that can plug into any 120V outlet. Our ND-RSD (Rectangular Spring Return Dampers) can now be field converted from spring operation to Power Open / Power Closed operation.

It’s been a while since we’ve updated the site.  Just some minor cosmetic changes.  Now when you visit User Manuals you’ll find everything in alphabetic order with headings and a “quick jump” menu at the top.

We’ve also dropped the Corporate News page (which hadn’t changed in 8 years) and placed the link to this blog in it’s place.

You may have noticed a new link on our home page for Mercury Recycling.  EWC Controls has been recycling old mercury thermostats for years.  We are now making it easier for everyone to return thermostats purchased through our company.  Whether you’re a distributor, contractor, or homeowner with an EWC Controls mercury thermostat to dispose of, just follow the link for instructions.

Often times when you are scoping out a job and planning ahead for the duct pathways and the bypass duct layout, you don’t always have the room you need for standard bypass duct sizes and standard bypass damper sizes. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could change the bypass duct size to fit into the area you have to work with? Well now you can!

EWC Controls has taken the same Split Shaft Design used in our popular URD & RSD dampers and designed them into our PRD Bypass Dampers! This allows us to produce a Rectangular or Square Bypass Damper in just about any reasonable size you may need! The Split Shafts are made from the same ThermoTuff® material we use in all of our dampers, so you know they will last.

So go ahead and re-size your Bypass Duct to handle the CFM you need to bypass and be assured that you can match that duct size with a High Quality Barometric Bypass Damper built to your specified dimensions only from EWC Controls.

This week we had to say good-bye to Laura.  Laura K. had been an EWC Controls employee for 23 years.  She worked in many facets of the operation and contributed 100% everyday. 

Laura and her husband are moving to “The Carolinas” to build their dream home for retirement.  We are going to miss her enthusiastic and dedicated service to our company.  It is not easy to find a replacement for such a true professional.

 All of us at EWC Controls want to wish Laura and her family great success and happiness in their new journey.

EWC Controls has upgraded the powerful UZC4 Zone System again! In addition to controlling De-humidification, the Auxiliary Relay feature can also Slow Down a Variable Speed Blower when a single zone is calling for cooling! Essentially the UZC4 will perform this function if 25% or less of the total number of zones are calling for cooling. The feature goes a step further and allows the Installer to specify a single particular zone to Slow Down the blower while other zones cannot. This feature can be very useful and gives the Contractor another reason to Specify the Ultra-Zone Model UZC4. Download the UZC4 Technical Bulletin, Rev. F and refer to Page 15 for more information and to view a sample Wiring Diagram.

EWC Controls has upgraded the powerful UZC4 Zone system to include function specific colored LED’s. The Compressor output LED’s are now Yellow and the Fan output LED is now Green and the Reversing Valve output is now Orange and the Damper output LED’s are also Green, etc. etc. Download the latest UZC4 Technical Bulletin (Rev. D) and refer to page 21. Stay tuned for other UZC4 upgrades coming real soon.

We started shipping the newer updated BMPlus panels last week.  These panels allow for any thermostat to be used at any zone.  This allows for greater flexibility for the installer.  We have also changed the sequence in which we were operating the reversing valve.  We will now hold the reversing valve at the end of every call.
